ResumeAI (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates a free online resume builder at this website. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it. We keep this policy in plain language on purpose.

1. What we collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and the name you provide. If you sign in with Google, we receive the basic profile information Google shares with us (your name and email).

Resume content. Everything you type into the builder — your profile, work experience, education, skills, projects, and any other sections — plus photos you upload for your resume.

Usage analytics. We collect lightweight, anonymous events so we can improve the product: page views, clicks on the “create resume” buttons, when the builder is opened, when a resume is created, and when a PDF is downloaded. These are collected by our own first-party script and stored on our servers — we do not sell or share this with advertising networks.

Technical data. Standard web data such as your IP address, browser type, and device type, used for security and to make the site work.

2. How we use your information

• To provide the service: create, edit, save, and export your resumes.
• To keep you signed in and to authenticate your account.
• To generate resume content with AI (see below).
• To improve the product using aggregated analytics.
• To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.

3. AI-assisted resume generation

When you use the AI features, the text you have provided for your resume is sent securely from our servers to an AI model provider (currently via OpenRouter) so the provider can expand and improve your resume content. This happens server-side — your data is never processed in your browser by third parties.

We do not use your resume data to train our own models, and we do not sell it. The AI provider may process the text you send in order to generate a response, subject to that provider’s own terms.

4. Cookies

We use a functional session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies and we do not use cross-site tracking.

5. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us operate the service — hosting and storage (Vercel and its managed data stores) and the AI model provider described above — and only to the extent needed to provide the service. We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the service.

6. How long we keep data

We keep your account and resume data for as long as your account exists. You can delete any resume from the builder at any time. To delete your account and all associated data, contact us at the address below and we will remove it within a reasonable time.

7. Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored in managed, access-controlled storage. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so while we work to protect your information we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to receive a copy of your data in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.

9. Children’s privacy

The service is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EU/EEA), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. International transfers

We host the service on infrastructure that may be located in different regions. By using the service, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in the countries where our service providers operate, in accordance with applicable law.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
